I love this album & the film. My Dad had this record which I used to play. I have my doubts that my Dad even knew that Joplin was aware that he was an African American. My Dad was prejudiced I’m sorry to say. Hearing this helps me to remember him in a closer way.

Marvin cut to the main refrain on this one.. the Joplin original has quite an extended'intro', which I found years later after hearing this record.

"Solace" was the theme music for the late night movie program "The Talkies" on KOIN-TV channel 6 in Portland Oregon in the mid 1970s.
It was on 11:30 PM every Saturday and showed only old MGM movies from roughly 1930 thru 1955.

Thought I'd come for a listen. I bought the Entertainer when was a kid as a 45 because I loved piano music. One random day I flipped the record over to see what was on the B side. Wow! I liked the Solace even more and thought it was a wonderful "find". Ah the days of physical music.
